What We Believe
We believe the best way to know what a group of people believe is to watch them. Unfortunately, many of us try to hide who we are behind the things we say we believe. But the reality is, despite what we may say, what we really believe is always revealed by our lives. It is revealed in the priorities we set, where we choose to invest resources, how we speak, how we treat others and a myriad of other little nuances we can't always fake. So in addition to a few resources below regarding our denominational affiliation we want to invite you to take a step beyond what we say and come see who we are.
We are a member of the International Church of the Nazarene. General statements about the denominations corporate beliefs and values, as well as organizational structure can be found at www.nazarene.org.
There are several reasons we choose to be a part of the Church of the Nazarene. First, it is one of the only denominations that was not birthed out of division. Rather, it was a colaborative effort of individuals from several denominations uniting under the banner of Holiness. Second, it was birthed out of a desire to serve "the least of these". Our roots are with the homeless in the inner city of L.A. where Phineas F. Bresee opened a storefront and put a church in it so they could connect with those around it. Finally, and most importantly, we are a Holiness church. We believe there is a real work God does on the other side of salvation here and now. God did not simply come to forgive you for the things you've done wrong, He came to empower you for a whole new way of life. The way of life He intended in the beginning.
So come, see if what we say we believe is what we look like. The only better way to tell who we really are is to join us and begin to believe with us.
